Ron Fross — Reviews Editor

I have lived in California over fifty years and have been a member of the Big Bear Computer Club for several years. I was an Aerospace Engineer for forty years and have been in and around computers for fifty years. The biggest job I held was that of Technical Director for Hughes Aircraft on the new Hong Kong Airport.

I have worked on many computer systems from small PCs, airborne computers, to large IBM 7094 main frames. I have been reviewing computer and software documentation for many years and hope to help out our club as well as our last reviews editor, Karen.
Rosemary Lloyd — President

My husband of 14 years, Jim, and I moved to Sugarloaf in October, 2004, from Mission Viejo.

I started learning about computers over 16 years ago when my environmental lab job required it. My experience includes software training— from developing written materials to designing and teaching classes on many programs. I have been tutoring on the Big Bear Community Computer Lab project.

Jim and I started SugarloafPC.com at the beginning of 2005. I do training, web design and help people with sick computers, as well as hardware installations and troubleshooting. I enjoy interacting with people, whether the topic is technical or not.
Mary Rowland — Secretary

I have lived in Big Bear for five years. I have five children and thirteen grandchildren.

My background is legal with three years experience in corporation law, with doing monthly and annual minutes for various clients, as well as attending and doing minutes for the Alumni Association at Loyola University. I have done newsletters for two organizations and am very proficient in everything having to do with writing and editing.

I look forward to working with everyone and contributing wherever I can to BBCC.
Barbara Moore — Treasurer

Barbara became a permanent resident of the Big Bear Valley in April of 2001. She joined Big Bear Computer Club in May of 2003 and found it rewarding and challenging. When offered the opportunity to become the BBCC Treasurer, it gave her the chance to join the others who work very hard to make the BBCC what it is today.

Keep in mind that everyone involved in Club leadership do much more than their titled jobs. So, along with devoting her time to the treasury, she also volunteers many hours of her time to improving Club forms, making certificates, and making and printing the monthly handouts.
Don Odekirk — Equipment Director

Don Odekirk was born in Hollywood and joined the club sometime way back in the last century. Drafted into the Army in 1959, he served in Albuquerque for 18 months. Following discharge Odie bummed around for about 25 years, working for five world fairs. He received a BA degree in Physical Science at San Francisco State in 1970, then traveled twice to Europe; once for 14 months and Central/South America for 4 months. He came back to Southern California in '86 and got his first laptop pc (DOS). Odie moved to Big Bear in '92 and was welcomed by the big quake. He got into webbing sometime after that when they brought the internet to Big Bear.
Norene Lieser — Newsletter Editor

Norene was born and raised in California. After graduating from Pasadena High School in 1956 (then located on the Pasadena City College campus), she married and lived in the Pasadena area for 15 years where she began raising her five children. She then moved to Covina where her children finished their teen years. She now has ten grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Norene moved to Big Bear City in 2000. She joined Big Bear Computer Club in February 2008, but wishes she had joined sooner. Norene volunteered as editor of Bearly Bytes in May 2008. She looks forward to a long relationship with the great people in this club.
Jim Lloyd — Technical Director

Jim Lloyd is a network administrator for a local bank. His background is in both analog and digital electronics. His first major job was as a computer technician for Tektronix, back in 1981. His first personal computer was a Commodore 64.

After spending the last half of the 1980s in aerospace electronics, he began the 1990s working with both Apple Macintosh and IBM PCs. Jim spent the late 1990s and the first few years of the 21st century working in various Microsoft based environments supporting software developers, progressing from technician to systems analyst.

Tiring of the fast-paced Orange County life style in 2004, Jim and his wife, Rosemary, moved to Sugarloaf for a change of pace. There they started SugarloafPC.com. In early 2006, Jim was offered a network administrator position at a local Big Bear bank. Rosemary continues to run SugarloafPC.com in a training and general support capacity.
Rick Edwards — Director-at-Large

Besides photography, Rick also writes articles on wildlife to accompany his images.
Nancy Hinz — Historian/Name Tags

Nancy was born and raised in California. Memories of graduating from Big Bear High School (now the Middle School) in 1955 are very dear to her heart. She married and lived in Brazil for 22 years where she raised her four children. When she returned to the States in 1981 she met Harry and they went on their sailing adventure to New Zealand in 1982.

Upon their return she went back to school at CSULB and studied to become a bi-lingual 5th grade elementary school teacher. It was so nice to have the Apple II C instead of a typewriter for term papers, lesson plans, forms, etc.! The extent of her computer knowledge is teaching 5th graders the basics and teachers how to make mailing labels! Harry has helped her a lot as she is eager to learn. She is so glad to be back in Big Bear and part of the Big Bear Computer Club!
Bill Flanagan — Webmaster

Bill has been back in Big Bear for over four years, after previously owning a home here for fifteen years while running his printing and graphics business in Long Beach. Bill has over 40 years experience in the graphic arts field, starting as a technical illustrator right out of high school in 1958.

Bill began building websites as a value-added service for his printing and graphics business clients, and has been learning ever since. He takes a minimalist approach to webpage design, believing that less is more, and that form is subservient to function.
Tina Nazarian — Membership Director

I am a Southern California native and Big Bear High School alumni. My family moved to the mountains when I was a child and I am the third of four generations of my family to have lived in the Valley. I am a US Navy veteran who served during the Gulf War in 1991 and, after receiving an honorable discharge; I returned to the Valley and completed my education. I am now the Senior Center Coordinator for Big Bear Valley Recreation and Parks, and I have offered individual computer tutoring to any interested senior. I devote my extra time to coaching youth sports and writing fan fiction for various websites.
Grace Fross — Sunshine Director

Grace grew up in Chicago, Illinois. After graduation from college, she married Ron Fross and moved to California. She was a teacher, mother and later worked for the Newport Mesa School District as a Library Tech. She really got into computers in the mid 70's. She is very interested in photography, music, and traveling in their motor home. Grace and Ron met the Cleary's over thirty years ago while we were in the Thunderbird club of Orange County. Since, Yomar has been active in the Big Bear Computer Club for several years, she invited the Fross up for a meeting and they have been interested ever since. They live in Banning California, but they try to make it to Big Bear whenever they are not traveling.

As the Sunshine person, she hopes to bring some cheer to those Computer Club members who are under the weather.
